Well, the Yankees have officially been eliminated and won't be playing in baseball's postseason this year. About fucking time.
(Note: I had the RIP idea on my own, but apparently the folks at ESPN had similar ideas, given the graphics they're using for their headline for an article by Buster Olney.)
I was hoping that the Red Sox would also fail. Sadly, not happening. But hey, the Dodgers clinched today!
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy about the way the Braves have played vs the Mets and Phillies (well, against the Phillies in away games. We sucked at home games with them.) If only the Astros had some semblance of being in the race still, we could try and mess up their record too.
It would have been nice to for the Red Sox to stay home as well. I agree.
ReplyDeleteThe Astros had a major hurdle to pass, and it didn't help them that they got screwed over and had to play in Milwaukee (which is deep in Cubs territory) for so-called "home" games.
But with the Dodgers, Angels, and Rays in and the Twins, Brewers, and Phillies (preferable to Mets) with excellent chances to get in, we've for the most part got a nice selection of teams in there. I'm obviously most excited about the Dodgers, but having the Rays there is excellent. (I actually thought they would be good starting in 2007 because of their pitching, but I was only premature by one year.) It would be awesome to see the Brewers make it as well.
