My name is Mason Porter. I am a Professor in Nordita (Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics) and am Professor in Complex Systems in the Department of Mathematics at Stockholm University. Previously, I was a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at UCLA. Before that, I was Professor of Nonlinear and Complex Systems in the Mathematical Institute at University of Oxford. I was also a Tutorial Fellow of Somerville College. I am still a Senior Research Fellow of Somerville College.

RIP Cherie Galvez (1950-2013)
Cherie Galvez died on July 12th. (I just found out now.) Cherie was Barry Simon's secretary at Caltech. She was a very nice person and was always very kind to me. When I was an undergrad, she always let me have free food from the mathematical physics workshops even though I didn't attend any. (I never asked. She just offered it to me because she knew me.)
