Take a look at
this paper about
Jenga in
Physical Review Letters. OK, it's not literally about Jenga, but there is a figure in the paper that makes me think of Jenga, and the authors are discussing drilling holes to collapse a wooden cube. The paper is called "Critical Fragmentation Properties of Random Drilling: How Many Holes Need to Be Drilled to Collapse a Wooden Cube?"
