Is My Hair a Security Risk?

The security officer at San Francisco Airport needed to pat my hair to make sure that I wasn't hiding something in there.

(I am not making this up.)

I should also add that this is because the really invasive 'x-ray' (microwave?) machine apparently wasn't able to penetrate what might be in there.
