My Little Pony: The Role-Playing Game

Ben Williamson just passed this along to me. You can find the link here.

Be sure to check out the supremely frightening beholder at the bottom of the page...

Honestly, I have to agree with the ending bits of that piece; it all does sound quite reasonable. Heck, kids playing with barbies/ponies/other-action-figures-sold-seperately are already roleplaying--giving them a very simple structure could lead to interesting results. And I can't say I'd be at all unhappy with an RPG that doesn't reinforce my parents' belief that RPGs = Satanism.

The ending of that piece does have some reasonable arguments.

A key question is whether they would make enough money in the short-term (I think they would in the long-term) to get their corporate elite to go along with it.

I still am highly amused by their choice and (especially) by the beholder picture.

So which is more satanic, an RPG where the players slaughter demons by the dozens, or an RPG involving psychedelic ponies? :-)

Well, considering my parents let me play with My Little Ponies, but didn't let me slaughter demons, that's an easy one to answer ;)
