Dodgers sign free agent Rafael Furcal

The Dodgers have agreed in principle to a 3-year, $39 million dollar contract with free agent shortstop Rafael Furcal.

Assessment: Furcal is a good player but is not worth close to this amount of money. One thing I'd like to see us do is try to sign Nomar Garciaparra to a one-year, incentive-laden deal or to get someone like AJ Burnett who would improve our starting rotation. Also, I'd like to see us trade Milton Bradley because he has baggage but is very talented and can net us useful players. (A Bradley trade is very likely, in fact.) I'd also like to see us hire a manager.
